If one name tends to stand out in the world of Joao Pessoa business, it’s Roberto Santiago. The esteemed businessman and entrepreneur has been leaving his mark on this bustling city, which is the capital of the Brazilian state of Paraiba, since the late 1980s. Today, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone in this city of more than 800,000 who isn’t at least passingly familiar with Roberto Santiago. That is because he is the man behind the Manaira Shopping Mall, which happens to be one of the most popular dining, shopping and entertainment destinations in the city.
While Roberto Santiago also owns Mangabeira Shopping Mall, his involvement with Manaira tends to get a lot more coverage simply because that mall is so much larger and more popular. Situated in the heart of bustling downtown Joao Pessoa, Manaira Shopping Mall is Roberto Santiago’s crowning achievement. Still, the businessman is only 58 years old, so he surely still has plenty of tricks up his sleeves.
Roberto Santiago was born on July 16, 1958, in Paraiba. He did well in school, so it came as no surprise when he enrolled in Pio X Marist College. After earning his undergraduate degree from that institution, he went on to earn a degree in business administration from University Center of Joao Pessoa, or UNIPE. Read more on comunique-se.com.
Armed with exceptional educational credentials, Roberto Santiago was ready to make his mark on the business world. First, though, he had to establish himself. He got his foot in the door at Cafe Santa Rosa and was diligent about socking away as much of his earnings as he could. He then used his savings to invest in a local cardboard box manufacturing company.
As it happened, that investment paid off well. It afforded Santiago with the opportunity to buy a large tract of land in downtown Joao Pessoa, which is the site on which Manaira Shopping Mall stands today. That deal went down in 1987. Just two years later, the mall opened for business.
Incredibly, Roberto Santiago was just 30 years old when his mall opened. In the years since, the avid motocross fan and bowling enthusiast has made many exciting improvements and additions to the mall. A generous man, he is known for his philanthropy, and he has a sterling reputation among those who have engaged in business dealings with him in the past. There is little down that Roberto Santiago will continue to make Manaira Shopping Mall a prime destination in Paraiba’s capital city.
